LIGHT THE NIGHT ILLINOIS- Corporate Intern

Position Title: Light The Night Walk Corporate Intern – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Greater Illinois Chapter

Reports to: Light The Night Walk Manager

Overview: The Light The Night Walk campaign of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s premier mass marketed event where thousands of participants raise funds for vital lifesaving research and patient services. Over 10,000 community and corporate supporters will take part in the 2017 Chicagoland Light The Night Walks in October 2017.  The Light The Night Corporate Intern will assist with fundraising and planning for the event with a focus on corporate support. 


Opportunity is available for the Spring, Summer, and Fall, but timing and length of the internship is flexible. *Spring intern would ideally be able to stay on through the June Corporate Recruitment Event.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on potential corporate supporters in the Chicago community
  • Assist in event planning for annual Corporate Recruitment Event (June)
  • Assist in recruiting corporate walk teams by making weekly retention calls
  • Assist in preparation for corporate meetings
  • Support retail partnerships (Summer and Fall)
  • Assist with campaign financials, including pulling reports and documenting of expenses
  • Other administrative and operational tasks as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and database management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and judgment
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed to excellence
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends

Internships are available between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday, and require a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week, for at least three months.  Some after-hours and weekend work for event support may also be available. This internship is unpaid, but potential for class credit is available pending school approval.
