After two and a half years of treatment for acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL), Layla has learned to live her "new normal," as cancer moms like to call it. These days, Layla is a happy and healthy little girl whose treatment is finally over, thanks to research and her diligent doctors. Her port came out right before the holidays in December 2010, and her clinic visits have been cut back to once every three months instead of every month. She enjoys reading books with her mom, playing with her princess dolls and especially, visiting the animals at the zoo, and now is also participating in girl scouts. She's having fun with her full head of curly hair, and is enjoying making friends and learning at school. In spite of all she's gone through, she's still smiling and always on the go, not taking a single day for granted!
