Lauren

Caregiver

My husband, Frank, was a 40-year-old, hard-working family man and the sole provider for me and our two children when his world was turned upside down by a routine blood test showing he had acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This was a nightmare for all. He had to be admitted to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital for five weeks where he received chemotherapy and ended up in the ICU with sepsis, heart failure, and organ damage. We were not sure if he was ever going to get out of there, but he became strong enough for his bone marrow transplant and had that in October. He is doing well, fighting daily to get his strength back, and taking care of his family through it all. He never complains and always says he is "great" with a smile. He is a true warrior, and we thank God every day for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the hospital, nurses, doctors, our family and friends.
