I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia September 2014 at age 13. I had just started 8th grade. 1st symptoms-to-diagnosis took only 4 days. I didn’t get a chance to think about things; we were busy trying to save my life.
Chemo made me so sick; I lost 32% of my weight, & am still not back to my 'pre-cancer' weight. I struggle with chemo’s side effects. I have neuropathy in my hands & feet. Learning is hard with "chemo brain" & ADHD it causes; it's a struggle every day. Many people ask me why I started Lift Brigade®: www.liftbrigade.org.
During treatment, I’d hear crying, screams, & sounds from other kids around me. I wanted to tell them, “It’s going to be okay, you just need to get through this moment.”
My hope is to help others ‘get away’, find a place to cope with their treatment, & know they’re not alone. Join me in in my fight. Be the Brigade for kids fighting cancer & rise when we LIFT others.
I’m proud to be the 2017 LLS South and Central Texas Honored Hero. I’m honored to support LLS; they make thousands of lives better for fighters like me, working toward better outcomes and cures.
