stage 3 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)
I was diagnosed with stage 3 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in the summer before my senior year of high school in 2020. It was a tough adjustment dealing with the treatment and the aftereffects of treatment while going into my final year of high school. A relatively carefree life was upturned in an instant, and I was presented with new challenges of balancing my new condition with the social and educational challenges that the final year of high school posed. The scholarship provided by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) was a relief when faced with the drastic costs of a college education. It eased the worry and burden of the costs of continuing my journey into higher education. The generous scholarship aided me in pursuing my college education to become a civil engineer. Their aid and giving will transfer through to allow me to give back as a civil engineer in the future, a profession that deals directly with bettering society through infrastructure. The funds provided by LLS helped changed my world and provided the basis for me to change our world in the future. I am thankful for all that they have done, not only for myself but for other survivors who have had to go through the same challenges that I did.
