Oncology nurse practitioners, nurses, and social workers involved in the care of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).

Description

This program covers an overview of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), tests used to diagnose CLL, approved and emerging treatment options, the role of clinical trials, goals of treatment, indications for when to start treatment, side effect management, and healthcare professional considerations when caring for these patients. The goal is to help participants gain a well-rounded understanding of CLL and its management, and resources for educating and supporting patients, to improve patient outcomes.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Describe chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
  • Identify tests used to diagnose disease and monitor treatment of CLL
  • Explain the overarching goals of treatment, indications for when to start treatment, and types of treatment for CLL
  • Explain approved and emerging treatment options for CLL and the role of clinical trials
  • Describe strategies to manage treatment side effects as well as potential long-term and late effects of treatments for CLL
  • Describe the healthcare professional’s role in managing patients with CLL

California Board of Registered Nursing

Approval for nurses has been obtained by the National Office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society under Provider Number CEP 5832 to award 1.68 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Social Worker Continuing Education
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Provider Number 1105, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 12/10/2023-12/10/2026. Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 clinical continuing education credits.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is recognized by the New York State Education Departments State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0117. LLS maintains responsibility for the program. Social workers will receive 1.5 clinical CE contact hours for this activity.
