James Davis, PhD, JD 1

Dr. Davis is the former Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Human Genome Sciences, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company that pioneered new treatments in the areas of auto-immune diseases, cancer and bioterrorism.. His professional background has focused on the intersection of science, business and law, particularly in issues related to the commercialization of new technologies. Dr. Davis continues to consult with biotechnology and other companies in the area of crisis management and the launch of new technologies.

Dr. Davis has been a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of a major New York law firm; head of research and development for an agricultural biotechnology company; and a Special Assistant at the Environmental Protection Agency, where he focused on biotechnology regulation. Jim serves as vice-chair of the Board of Directors, chair of the Mission Oversight Committee and on the Therapy Acceleration Program, Medical & Scientific Affairs and Executive committees. I also have served for two years as the Co-Chair of the National Capital Area annual Leukemia Ball helping the chapter to raise approximately $6 million. Term ends: 2016.
