acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)
I was first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in 2016 at age 25. Since then, I've relapsed twice and am now in remission, my last bone marrow and CAR-T in November 2024. During my first and second cancer, I wrote, produced, directed and edited two feature films. I would write the scripts while doing chemo and treatments, and then when I was discharged, I arranged the shoot dates and organized the teams required to complete the films.
After my second cancer diagnosis, I received a bone marrow transplant, and within 8 months of discharge from City of Hope, we were on set shooting our latest film, No No Girl. Since then, No No Girl has gone on to screen at theaters all across the nation, being accepted into over 20 film festivals, including the prestigious LA Asian Pacific Film Festival. During its successful screening tour, my cancer would relapse again, and I would put everything on hold. Today, I am healthy, and we were able to secure distribution for No No Girl on streaming platforms such as Amazon and others.
It's been a crazy decade, but with the support of my family, my wife and my many communities, I've been able to take on this hardship of my life and turn it into my greatest success.
