Hodgkin lymphoma (HL)

Certain things come into your life to show you how strong you are. Life is so fragile, and we don’t know if we will be here on this earth in the future. This process shows me that the most important thing in life is having health and making beautiful memories with loved ones.

At 20 years old, my life took an unexpected turn that changed everything, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL). I remember the moment when my oncologist told me about my diagnosis. I felt like my whole world had turned upside down, and I wasn't mentally or emotionally ready to accept it. I cried a lot during those days, and the thought of facing blood cancer at such a young age was nothing short of a nightmare.

However, amidst the darkness, there were rays of hope and support that lifted me up. My mom stood by me through it all, providing the unwavering support and love that I needed to face this illness. I also found support from a mentor, friends, and the incredible medical team. During this challenging time, I realized that the most important things in life are health and making beautiful memories with loved ones. I also came to understand the significance of emotional support and the positive impact it has on one's mindset. The road to recovery was filled with ups and downs. It's been eight years since I became cancer-free, and I feel grateful for my improving health.

However, the experience left a mark, with the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation lingering as a reminder of what I endured. But I've learned to cope with these challenges and embrace the newfound knowledge and awareness that comes with being a Hodgkin lymphoma survivor.

I want to share my story to inspire and offer hope to other families going through similar experiences. I want them to know that while the process may be hard, there is always hope and strength to overcome the illness. It's important to have faith and to surround oneself with love and support to navigate through such a challenging season. As I move forward, I carry with me the lessons and experiences from my experience. I understand the importance of regular checkups and staying informed about the effects of blood cancer treatment on the body. I hope that my story serves as a reminder of the strength, resilience, and hope that lie within each of us, ready to overcome any obstacle that comes our way.
