Funds Raised to Benefit the Work of LLS’s The Dare to Dream Project to Bring Safer, Less Toxic Treatments for Kids with Blood Cancer & Provide Free Support & Resources for Their Families
SEATTLE, WA & RYE BROOK, NY (Sept. 26, 2024) – Today, MOD Pizza is proud to announce it has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help kids with blood cancer. Through The Dare to Dream Project, LLS is working to change the paradigm of treatment and care for pediatric blood cancer patients. MOD is committed to raising funds that will exclusively benefit the life-saving work of The Dare to Dream Project and will help LLS achieve its goal to ensure kids receive the blood cancer treatments they need to not only survive but thrive.
On September 27, MOD Pizza will kick off a system-wide fundraiser for LLS in honor of Maddy, one of MOD’s favorite and youngest guests who passed away from leukemia and whom its Maddy cheese pizza is named after. MOD encourages its guests to help support LLS’s Dare to Dream Project by rounding up their bill or donating directly to LLS in-store at one of its more than 492 restaurants nationwide now through October 31. During October, kids can eat free every Sunday as an additional way to bring families closer together around the dinner (or lunch) table for a good cause.
“In addition to raising awareness for leukemia and finding better treatments for kids and families everywhere, MOD Pizza represents the ultimate ‘comfort food’ and a way to foster togetherness,” says Susan, Maddy’s mother. “While our family and inner circle of friends became super tight as we leaned on each other through Maddy’s illness, it was often through the simple act of sharing a meal. It creates a space for conversation, laughter, sharing memories, and quality time together. MOD does this every day.”
Each donation or sale will support cutting-edge research and help improve the lives of children and families affected by blood cancer.
“We are incredibly inspired by the work LLS is doing to create better, safer treatments for children battling blood cancer,” said Lyndsey Patel, vice president of marketing at MOD Pizza. “This cause is especially close to our hearts because of Maddy, whose legacy lives on in every pie of our Maddy cheese pizza. We are honored to help LLS continue its life-saving mission and to bring hope to families who need it most."
Supporting LLS and The Dare to Dream Project
Through The Dare to Dream Project, LLS is responding to the urgent need for safer, less toxic treatments and access to free support and resources for pediatric blood cancer patients and their families. Kids are different and deserve kid-sized treatments. Yet only 5% of cancer drugs have been approved for first-time use in kids, and 80% of childhood cancer survivors develop chronic health issues from their treatment.
“LLS is so grateful to be partnering with MOD Pizza, and we are moved by how they continue to honor Maddy,” says Carson Jacobi, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Healthcare Partnerships at LLS. “We’ve accomplished so much through The Dare to Dream Project, but much more work needs to be done so we can help all kids and families affected by blood cancer. The generous support of MOD will move us closer to achieving our goals.”
MOD is so inspired by LLS’s dream to help as many children as possible get treatment for their cancer and what they have already accomplished. The organization is pioneering pediatric blood cancer research – funding the first-ever pediatric AML Data Commons, a platform that ensures consistency in global data reporting and has launched the first-ever acute leukemia LLS PedAL Master Clinical Trial, which matches patients to treatment based on their cancer’s unique tumor biology. Through our partnership and support of The Dream to Dream Project, MOD is committed to helping LLS improve the quality of life for all kids with blood cancer.
