CAR T Supergirl and her Superhero Supporters

One year ago this week, Laurie Adami (pictured, third from left) was released from the hospital and declared cancer-free after a 13 year battle with follicular lymphoma. The pioneering treatment that ultimately cured her was CAR T, a type of immunotherapy that LLS helped to support through more than $40 million dollars in research funding.

In April 2020, Laurie will be climbing to Everest Base Camp to support further advancements in immunotherapy research. She is inspiring people across Los Angeles and around the world to join her on the trek and donate to support her campaign.

Laurie recently met real estate agent Liz Bates (pictured, far left), who is changing the world, one home sale at a time. Her business, Liz Bates Real Estate for Good, offers clients reduced commission rates (only 1% when most rates are 2.5-3%) when buying and selling homes. She then encourages her clients to make generous donations to charities like The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the  commission savings. 

Ed and Vicky Bangayan recently sold a home through Liz Bates Real Estate for Good and donated $2,500 of their commission savings to Laurie’s Everest Base Camp fundraiser. Ed (pictured, second from the left) shared that his gift is in memory of a family member who passed away from lymphoma. He was inspired by Laurie’s story of survival and we were inspired by his generosity!
