Safety Tips for LLS Community
While we welcome free discussion and supportive connection on LLS Community, safety is very important to us. We would like to take a moment to share some guidelines for staying safe online.
Meeting up in person
We encourage community and connection. If you choose to meet an LLS Community friend in person, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
-Choose a public place where you are comfortable, during the day if possible
-Talk before meeting – phone call or live chat is best
-Bring a friend, especially if you are meeting in an unfamiliar place
-Make sure someone knows where you are, and can check in on you
-Trust your gut instincts – if your gut is telling you that something is wrong, leave, call a friend to help, or talk with someone working at the place where you met.
Do not share medications
Certain medications have special handling and storage instructions. Sending medications by mail can affect the integrity of medication and is strongly discouraged. You should never take a medication that was not prescribed to you by your doctor. LLS does not condone the practice of sharing medications.
Reporting behavior that violates our guidelines
While LLS Community is professionally moderated, we cannot see everything. Please report any abusive or unwanted comments or private messages by clicking the triangle next to a comment.
