Michelle

leukemia

I am 43 and will be 44 this year. I have been doing this forever, and I do it every year for everyone who's fighting, and surviving. and more. I love it, and I, too, am a six-time survivor of all cancers at different times of my life and possibly another. I am a childhood cancer survivor since I was 2½ years old. I had leukemia, and it was in the 80s so I had excruciating radiation and chemotherapy. I went through about three years of bone marrow and spinal taps and all the medications that they put me on until I was at least five years old. I also went through experimental cancer treatments that had never been done before on kids back then, and I am one of two survivors among 35 kids involved. I've had a lot of medical problems since, and I live each day the best way I know how. I try to encourage others who fight against cancer and encourage people to not give up hope and keep going no matter what. I want to eventually write a book to encourage people going through cancer treatment and their families to keep going, be strong, and have faith. I want to be that light in the darkness and tell my story to the world.
