Shop Online and In-Store at Walgreens to Support LLS

LLS & Walgreens are in your corner

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Walgreens are in your corner.

Since 2019, Walgreens has helped to raise more than $30 million for LLS and Susan G. Komen, all with a clear goal in mind: to advance research for tough-to-treat cancers and increase equitable access to care.

And your support plays a crucial role in this partnership. When you visit your local Walgreens or shop online during February, your donation at checkout can help change lives—simply round up your total when prompted—proving that a little can go a long way when we come together.

Real world impact

Thanks in part to Walgreens and their generous commitment, LLS is able to support survivors like Renata.

Diagnosed with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) at 10 weeks pregnant with her first baby, Renata did what she had to: met with her doctors for all of her prenatal appointments... plus seven rounds of chemo—altered to account for the safety of her baby.

Because of this treatment, Renata reached temporary remission. And her son was delivered via emergency C-section at 32 weeks—weighing a mere 3 lbs. 8 oz.—but otherwise healthy. After relapsing, she underwent a stem cell transplant and is still recovering but thriving.

Thanks in part to support from partners like Walgreens and their customers, LLS was able to connect Renata with crucial financial assistance that helped her get access to the treatment she (and her son) needed. Now she hopes to be a beacon of hope to other women facing similar situations. She knows that together we can make strides toward our collective vision of a world without blood cancer.

How Walgreens and shoppers are helping people with blood cancer

Support from Walgreens and shoppers like you helps LLS advance blood cancer research, advocacy, and support to patients, caregivers, and families—no matter their background or economic status. Support resources are FREE and accessible to anyone affected by blood cancer, and include:

  • State and Federal Policy & Advocacy: We advocate for quality, affordable healthcare for all blood cancer patients.
  • Connection to Patient Financial Assistance: We connect patients to financial resources, so that no patient is denied treatment because they can’t afford it.
  • Myeloma Link: We empower Black patients and caregivers to advocate for themselves through free education and support
  • Latino Outreach: We serve as a trusted source of information and services for Spanish-speaking blood cancer patients through targeted outreach with community partners.
  • Equity in Access: We advance health services research to understand how disparities in access impact care and identify solutions.
  • IMPACT Grants: We provide funds to larger medical institutions to reach patients through smaller community health partners.
  • Underrepresented Minority Medical Student Research Program: We are diversifying the physician-scientist workforce to help advance health equity in the future.
  • Personalized Support: We provide resources and support from LLS Information Specialists, oncology nurses and social workers who help answer questions.
  • Nutrition Consultations: We provide oncology nutrition education for all cancer patients from registered dietitians
  • Clinical Trials Support: We guide patients through the clinical trial process with assistance from Clinical Trial Nurse Navigators
  • Blood Cancer Conferences: We offer free events about treatment options, emerging therapies, and management of survivorship information

LLS is grateful for our longstanding relationship with Walgreens and our shared commitment to helping reduce health disparities,” says E. Anders Kolb, MD, President and CEO of LLS. “The vital funds raised through Walgreens’ annual checkout campaign help ensure that more patients can access the treatment they need and accelerate groundbreaking research that leads to new blood cancer treatments.
