(Rye Brook, NY, Sept. 10, 2021) — Our top priority is — and always has been — the safety of blood cancer patients and survivors. We know that they are at increased risk of serious illness and death from COVID-19. However, up to 1 in 4 blood cancer patients won’t produce COVID-19 antibodies after vaccination, making it even more important for those around them to be vaccinated.
We all must do our part to ensure our actions keep the most vulnerable around us safe, including adults and children fighting cancer. That’s why we applaud the federal government for continuing to build a robust vaccine strategy. These policies will help more people get vaccinated and protect more people from COVID-19, including cancer patients, cancer survivors, and many others who are immunocompromised.
